Happy Mother’s Day!
“A mother is not a person to lean on, but a person to make leaning unnecessary.” *
— Dorothy Canfield Fisher
As today is Mother’s Day, I was reflecting on the sacrifices that mothers make to promote the health, safety, and happiness of their children.
To all the mothers who: wiped running noses, washed dirty faces, made your children do homework and chores, stayed up nursing fevers, worked two jobs outside the home, gave up college educations or careers, walked the streets looking for that wayward child, soaked a pillow with tears of concern, and/or prayed long hours into the night, kudos to you all.
Remember while parenting you may feel alone, but you are not alone. The bible includes lists of women and their family endeavors. There is obviously Eve, the first mother. But think also of Rachel, Hannah, Rebekah, Bathsheba, The Proverbs 31 Woman, Ruth, Mary the Mother of Jesus, Eunice, and Lois.
Thank God for mothers!
